Dear Editor:

The recent report titled "Macular atrophy and Zika virus infection" by Campos et al. was very interesting(1). The authors noted that "this is the first report of optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging of macular atrophy in a child with presumed Zika virus infection-associated microcephaly." Undoubtedly, OCT might present challenges in cases of Zika virus infection, with positive or negative findings(1-4). OCT findings in infected cases have already been described in at least three reports(2-4) published prior to or simultaneously with the present report by Campos et al.(1). However, a search of the PubMED database (www.pubmed.com) by recorded date should list the report in "JAMA Ophthalmology" as the first report worldwide(4).
